Russian and Japanese satellites approached 200 meters

According to the Main Information and Analytical Center of the Automated System for Warning of Dangerous Situations in Near-Earth Space, at about 4 am Moscow time on May 19, 2021, the Kanopus-V spacecraft No. 5 and ASNARO (Japan) approached each other at a distance of about 200 m.

GIAC ASPOS OKP carries out constant monitoring of this situation.

Kanopus-V

Spacecraft for remote sensing of the Earth "Kanopus-V" No. 5 was launched on December 27, 2018 from the Vostochny cosmodrome. It is designed to obtain multispectral images of the Earth's surface in order to provide operational information to ministries and departments, as well as commercial consumers.

ASNARO-1

The Japanese research satellite ASNARO was launched into orbit on November 6, 2014 by the Dnepr launch vehicle.
