Falcon 9 launches SXM-8
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched the SXM-8 satellite from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, on 6 June 2021, at 04:26 UTC (12:26 EDT).
Falcon 9 launches SXM-8 and Falcon 9 first stage landing
Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage landed on the “Just Read the Instructions” droneship, stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. Falcon 9’s first stage (B1061) previously supported SpaceX’s Crew-1 and Crew-2 missions.
SiriusXM Radio Broadcasting SXM-8 Satellite
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launches the SXM 8 satellite for SiriusXM. The satellite will replenish SiriusXM’s fleet providing satellite radio programming to consumers across North America. SXM 8 was built by Maxar Technologies, and features a large unfurlable S-band reflector to broadcast radio signals to users on the ground. Delayed from June 1.
