According to updated data, the uncataloged object of "space debris", which was supposed to approach the International Space Station on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at 16:16 Moscow time, is not dangerous.
The probability of a collision with the ISS is zero, and no correction maneuver is required.
Unidentified space debris object flew past the ISS at a safe distance
According to Russian experts, the uncataloged space debris object flew at about 16:15 Moscow time at a distance of 1.8 km from the International Space Station.
The probability of intersection of the orbits of the station and the object was zero, so there was no need to carry out an ISS evasion maneuver.
Editor's Note:
We are not always going to have the (insolent) luck with space debris, it will end well in (avoidable) disaster one day ... It is time to take firm decisions via UNOAA to make a moratorium on commercial launches (not essential and only for profit) until all companies and agencies are equipped with fully recoverable rockets and launch systems or equipped with controlled atmospheric reentry systems. And to speed up space debris recovery programs.
