Rocket Lab - "There And Back Again" - A Rocket's Tale patch.
April 11, 2022
It's happening! We're bringing in the helicopter to make our first attempt at a mid-air capture of Electron as it returns to Earth from space. It's all part of our plan to make Electron the first reusable orbital small rocket.
As the second-most frequently launched U.S. rocket, converting Electron to a reusable rocket is about enabling even more frequent launch opportunities for the small sat community. This mission is taking that first major step toward that goal by attempting to prove out our plan and bring a dry Electron booster back to the factory.
There And Back Again - The payloads onboard
Not only are we going big on recovery but for our next mission, we're including the most number of satellites on Electron we've manifested on any mission to date.
This 26th Electron launch - There And Back Again - will deploy 34 satellites to a sun synchronous orbit for a number of customers including Alba Orbital, Astrix Astronautics, Aurora Propulsion Technologies, E-Space, Spaceflight Inc., and Unseenlabs, and bring the total number of satellites launched by Electron to 146. Our customer manifest is a mix of new and returning satellite operators and we're thrilled to have each and every one of them onboard.
